Our Story
From small-town roots in central Montana to a four-generation crop insurance legacy, we’ve been helping farmers and ranchers protect what matters most since the 1930s!
It all kicked off when Leo McMeel Sr. started The Rocky Mountain Fire Insurance Company, bringing peace of mind to Montana’s agricultural community. Fast forward to Leo Jr., who took the reins and kept the family tradition strong, all while expanding into a larger agency and honoring his father’s commitment to farmers and ranchers.
Then came 1979—Leo Jr. teamed up with his son-in-law, Reed Rydell, to create an independent agency that thrived under Reed’s hard work and dedication.
By 2002, Mike and Di Rydell jumped into the driver’s seat, embracing the digital world but keeping that hometown spirit alive. Now, we’re blending our old-school expertise with modern tech to serve and teach others through our online platform.
